My Favorite Taylor Swift Songs for Every Occassion
As my hot girl summer comes to an end and the fall decor is already on sale at Michael's, it's time to focus on what really matters at this time of year: our lord and savior, Taylor Swift. Whether's you're about to celebrate "cuffing season" or have a sad girl autumn, I'm sure T-Swizzle will be there for you in one way or another.
I've loved Taylor since I was a kid. 1989 is my favorite album- not only for the vibes, but because it got me through my first heartbreak when I was 17. Her music has helped me explain how I feel, and has made me feel less alone while going through the trials and tribulations we call dating.
Here are some of my favorites, depending on why I'm in tears on any given day...
You know when you meet someone, and you really think it could go somewhere, and you hyper fixate on it until your friends tell you you need a new hobby?
Listen to: Enchanted (from Speak Now) or Gorgeous (from Reputation)
When it's new, it's exciting. You're in that "honeymoon phase" where nothing can go wrong (yet).
Listen to: Sparks Fly (from Speak Now) or Fearless (from Fearless- preferably Taylor's Version).
Sometimes things get off to a rocky start, or they've been going on for a while and you're not sure what's going on. Maybe it feels right, but you don't know where you stand, or how long it'll last. Either way, you don't want it to end.
Listen to: Delicate (from Reputation), Call It What You Want (from Reputation), Willow (from evermore), Everything Has Changed (from Red), or Cruel Summer (from Lover)
Believe it or not, sometimes things work out! Maybe I can't say I relate (lol), but Taylor has some beautiful love songs!
Listen to: Mine (from Speak Now), Lover (from Lover), Don't Blame Me (from Reputation), New Year's Day (from Reputation), or Starlight (from Red).
Things fall apart far too often. This is usually when I turn to music, especially when there isn't a lot of communication going on between us.
Listen to: Out of the Woods (from 1989), The Story of Us (from Speak Now), I Wish You Would (from 1989).
Dating can take a toll on you, especially if you've been badly burnt before. I know I've been through bitter phases, and I'm sure many of you have, too.
Listen to: Blank Space (from 1989) or tis the damn season (from evermore).
It might feel good now, but you have a feeling it's not going to last, whether it be because you've just been hurt too many times, or circumstances will drive you apart.
Listen to: Wildest Dreams (from 1989)
If it ends badly, it's fair to be bitter about it. It simply sucks when there's drama.
Listen to: I Knew You Were Trouble (from Red), Mr. Perfectly Fine (from Fearless [Taylor's Version]), or We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (from Red).
Whether it ended badly or not, it's easy to be sad about it, especially if you had high hopes.
Listen to: exile (from folklore) or coney island (from evermore).
Sometimes it's over, but then it's not, but then it is, and then it's not, and then you're just left with these lingering questions. Maybe you're still hopeful, because when it's good, it's really good.
Listen to: Style (from 1989).
Getting over it can take a while. In the meantime, you might need a soundtrack while you cry yourself to sleep (I know I do).
Listen to: Red (from Red), All Too Well (from Red), or Clean (from 1989).
And sometimes, all you need is a dance party with your roommate.
Listen to: New Romantics (from 1989), 22 (from Red), or Shake it Off (from 1989).
Taylor has an incredible catalog, and there's many more to choose from. Let me know what your favorites are!
